Been wondering why the crazy flight schedules into and out of Yap? The following may help shed some light on the issue. Lt. Governor Tony Tareg accompanied by Acting Attorney General Cyprian Manmaw and Acting Director of R & D, Jesse Gajdusek traveled to Guam on January 21st to meet with various companies in Guam in regards to jet fueling services at the Yap International Airport. For the past two years, Mobil has discontinued jet fueling service at the airport. With no readily available jet fuel, Continental cut back on flight schedules into Yap from Guam. The delegation pointed out that while the State has been forced to invest in needed equipment to enable the provision of jet fuel services, it is ill equipped to handle the actual operation component of such service.
